Target Clients & Their Needs

  • Junior Beginner: Fun, high energy activities (constant involvement), positive reinforcement, motor skill development, high success rate, prizes.
  • Junior Competition (9-12 years of age, starting comp): Tactical and technical coaching, lots of rallying and point/game play situations, positive reinforcement, movement, high level of participation.
  • Adolescent Competition: Advanced tactical and technical coaching, ability to analyse self/opponent and develop game plans, point play with rules/objectives, positive reinforcement so that they have confidence in their game/ability.
  • Adolescent Social: Enjoyment, tactical and some technical information, lots of communication/interaction with other players and coach.
  • Adult Competition: Tactical coaching more than technical, lots of point play with rules/objectives, ability to structure points (Game plan).
  • Adult Social: Interaction/Communication, enjoyment, tactical advice and some basic technical information along with games that involve teamwork.
  • Older Adults: Enjoyment, praise, communication, honesty, and low intensity drills to minimise chance of injury and point play.
  • Squads (Junior Elite): High level tactical coaching. Drills/activities that involve overloading the body, e.g. 2 ball activities, squats between shots and speed drills. Drills that set up match scenarios played at a high intensity. Fitness/movement/balance training. Periodisation of training.
  • Disabled players: The modification of exercises and equipment, tactical training, basic technical information, lots of game play and encouragement.

Absenteeism: It is the responsibility of the pupil/parent to ensure all lessons are attended ON TIME. If pupils are unable to attend a lesson it is the responsibility of the pupil/parent to notify the coach at least 24 hours prior to the lesson. If this occurs a “make up” lesson will be granted. In the case of an individual missing a group lesson the resultant “make up” lesson would require the individual to attend a suitable group lesson at a different time, with it being the responsibility of the pupil/parent to organise this time with the coach. “Make up” lessons will not be carried over from one term to another.

Wash/Heat outs: In the case of extreme weather conditions (ie. heavy rain or temperature >40º) that may prevent lessons being held students need to call their coach on their mobile telephone to clarify whether the lesson will be taking place. If lessons are cancelled due to extreme whether the term will be extended by 1 week to “make up” the missed lesson.
